We’re Recruiting! Community Researchers Wanted.

Have you been homeless or lived in temporary housing?

Do you want to use your experience to help make resettlement services better for others in York?

If so, we would love to hear from you…

The Role

As a Community Researcher, you’ll be part of a team of up to six people with experience of homelessness and housing instability. Using community-led research, together, you’ll help us understand how housing support in York works in real life by gathering people’s experiences and insights, helping improve services and shape local housing support policy.

What you will be doing!

  • Learning: We will teach you how to do community led research and learn safe, ethical and meaningful conversation techniques.
  • Listening: You’ll help hold drop in sessions to listen to people’s experiences of homelessness and housing instability in locations across York.
  • Sharing: You’ll be involved with workshops to share your learning.
  • Planning: You’ll help bring different services together to plan for a better future for housing in our city.

What are we looking for?

  • Your experience: You have been homeless or moved through resettlement services or faced housing instability.
  • Your interests: You care about fairness and want to make sure people like you have a say in how services are run.
  • Willingness to learn: You are excited to pick up new skills in research and conversations.
  • Friendliness: You are comfortable chatting with others and making them feel heard.

INTERESTED? GET IN TOUCH.

If you have personal experience with homelessness and want to support this change, we want to hear from you – we’ll support you every step of the way in this role.

Even if you feel unsure, it would be great to hear from you and we can talk it through together.
