Government publishes findings from ‘Right to Try Work’ collaboration.
Lived Insights is pleased to see the publication of the findings from the Department for Work and Pensions’ (DWP) ‘Right to Try Work’ collaboration, following months of co-production with people who have lived experience of the benefits system.
In 2025, Lived Insights was invited to join the DWP’s Right to Try Work Committee, bringing the voices and experiences of disabled people and people receiving health-related benefits into national policy discussions.
Working alongside DWP policymakers and other lived experience representatives, we helped shape recommendations on how people can feel more confident about trying work without the fear of losing financial support if things don’t work out. We also highlighted the need for clear information, trusted advice and better safeguards to support people into employment.
The committee’s recommendations have now been published as part of the Timms Review of Personal Independence Payment – Interim Report, marking an important step towards creating a fairer and more supportive benefits system.
Miles, Co–Founder of Lived Insights, said:
“We’re proud to have represented lived experience at a national level and to have helped shape these recommendations. This work shows why it’s so important to involve people with first-hand experience when developing policy. Those who’ve lived it know what works, what doesn’t and what needs to change.”
