Working Alongside Lived Experience – SWIFT
Lived Insights has been commissioned by North Yorkshire Council, through the SWIFT programme, to help voluntary and community organisations embed lived experience into the design, delivery and evaluation of services for refugees, people seeking asylum and other migrant communities.
SWIFT is a three-year initiative that strengthens support across North Yorkshire through advice, community development, awareness-raising and capacity building.
Phase 1 will be a series of training workshops titled, ‘Working Alongside Lived Experience’, which will introduce the principles and practical foundations of embedding lived experience into everyday practice. Participants will explore why lived experience matters, how to build trust and share power and practical ways to recognise lived experience as expertise within organisations and decision-making. These training workshops will be delivered in Knaresborough, Catterick, Harrogate and Scarborough.
Phase 2 will be a more in-depth programme designed to help organisations move from understanding to action. We will explore organisational culture, power, collaboration and practical approaches to leading with lived experience to shape and improve services. We will also facilitate a peer-to-peer lived experience audit, enabling organisations to reflect on how well lived experience is embedded within their culture, processes and decision-making and to identify practical opportunities for change.
