York Drugs and Alcohol Strategy

In collaboration with Imogen Blood Consultancy, we listened closely to people’s personal experiences with York’s Drug and Alcohol services. Their honest insights shed light on what’s working, what isn’t, and what matters. This invaluable perspective is now shaping York’s Drugs and Alcohol strategy, inspiring positive changes that will better support those on their journey toward recovery.
We are proud to play an active role in the City of York’s Drug and Alcohol Partnership, helping to shape recovery-focused services that put people and their voices at the centre. Led by York in Recovery, we are supporting the opening of the new Community Recovery Hub at Wellington Row and York’s commitment to becoming an Inclusive Recovery City (IRC). Alongside individuals with direct experience, we want to help create powerful and impactful public messages about drugs and alcohol that leads to change. We are building a women’s research circle, giving space to explore gender-specific challenges, develop solutions and ideas so that recovery support in York is inclusive and responsive to everyone’s needs.
“Success stems from a person sensing compassion, neutrality and non-judgement. The common denominator of fruitful engagement was the key worker and their catalytic influence. We need more opportunities for folk to have this space” Lived Insights
