A Place for Me
Led by the Good Organisation as part of York Design Week, we helped facilitate a collaboration where hostel residents shaped their vision of a virtual hostel, what it should provide, feel and look like. We worked with architects to create prototypes of hostels as envisioned by the people that have lived in them.
This project marked a bold shift from traditional consultation, placing people with lived experience of homelessness at the centre of designing and planning new approaches to emergency shelters, temporary accommodation, and supported housing. Following a series of workshops, 4 emerging blueprints were developed in response to the key elements as identified by those that had experience of homelessness and the service providers. The result was a blueprint for innovative transition accommodation in the city.
